“Winter” hike mid April thigh deep snow at NCAR

Went for a short hike with a buddy at ncar today in the afternoon near the tail end of a big spring storm.  Crazy, Boulder supposedly is one of the snowiest cities in the states at 80 inches vs 60 in denver, 120 inches of snow in nederland.  Got that from an ncar sign on the hike.  I thought it seemed like more snow here than in Denver when I lived there!  Now I’m vindicated.

We met up there and took Bryans dog clooney as well, he had a blast as did we.  It was stunningly gorgeous, a thick blanket of soft snow covered everything and more came down as we hiked.  We went off trail several times and enjoyed the extra effort and freedom of making our own trail.

We found a really cool little creek and hiked back along it, making a surprise loop back to the car.  Didn’t know that was possible at ncar, thought it was an out and back place.

Near the end as we tried to find the social trail up to the ncar buildings from the valley to the south
