Backcountry skiing the east portal of the Moffatt tunnel

Great day with 5 guys doing some backcountry skiing today.  We skinned up 2.5 miles and 1900 feet of elevation gain, then took our skins off our skis and blasted down the mountain.  Route finding was done very well by art our fearless and experienced leader.  2 dogs rounded out the crew.  Goregeous sunshine, laughing with my buddy bryan, and the awesomeness of the Colorado Rockies contributed to an exceptional day. Then a beer in Rollinsville capped it off.  Stage and stop or something like that.

Easy to get there, three miles south of Nederland take a right on a dirt road and follow it 10-15 minutes to the trailhead right by the Moffatt tunnel.  Park and head west up towards the continental divide.

Stunning scenery above treeline.
